![]() You could always retcon Lucretia's and the player's ages if need be, but thinking about what she was doing when pregnant might help you figure out why she chose not to keep him. Lucretia is intended to be in her early 90s, and she had the vision of the meteor 33 years ago. One thing to keep in mind is his age and what that means for when Lucretia gave birth to him. TL DR - Player feels backstory is underwhelming, wants to be secret son of Lucretia Mathias. I'm leaning towards yes, bus is this a good idea? Or will this break the game/story somehow in a way I'm not thinking of? Any suggestions on why they would be estranged / how would Lucretia feel about him would be great too, or any other creative ideas you may have. We have a few weeks hiatus so I have some time to think about it, but would love some advice. (Important note - the problems isn't that he feels disconnected to the story, as much as he feels his character isn't as "interesting" as the rest). After last session he talked to me about it and felt he wanted some interesting secret and a stronger connection to the story - when he suddenly came up with the idea to be the secret estranged son of Lucretia Mathias. ![]() ![]() The last player in question had the vaguest backstory, ranger who feels the Falling fire are dangerous, but he's been feeling disconnected and not as interesting as the rest who have a stronger connection. Another is a Warlock with a patron who is very present, and another is a Druid who was affected personally by the meteor. So I have 4 players, most new to D&D, we started a few weeks ago and are still quite in the beginning (Rat's Nest next session).įor context - one player is a Paladin who chose to have a backstory eerily similar to Wilhelm from season 2, which is kept secret from the other players but they know something is going on.
